You know me better than most, Winnie, and I’m sure you’re aware that I’m prone to an obsession (or 20), and my latest is this tweed pencil skirt from J. Crew.
I’ve never really been down with the Crew, despite the fact that one of my best friends from college works for the company and my guy would own a platinum J. Crew rewards card onetime existed. But, when I saw the No. 2 Pencil Skirt ($128) in Glamour‘s “The Month in Outfits” section, I needed a private moment!
In Glamour, the tweed skirt is red (or is it pink/orange/coral?), but on JCrew.com, the skirt is only available in “Clover,” which I would describe as “mint.” Green isn’t my favorite color, and I’m not completely sure if I can actually own a “Clover” skirt and take myself seriously.
Even in the wake of such a color conundrum, my desperate need for this skirt is only slightly alleviated — I would require a very tough looking top to balance such a sweet color — and I’m 99% sure I’m gong to breakdown and buy it in a moment of weakness.
The skirt is perfect, even for a girl like me (and Glamour editor Rajni Lucienne Jacques) who doesn’t have the height or leg length to wear such a long pencil skirt, and, with Winnie as my witness, I will be strolling into the office wearing an outfit similar to Rajni’s oversized sweater look, in the next month.
How would you style this skirt, and should I break down and buy it in “Clover”?
